A growing family was pushing against the confines of a dated kitchen-and-dining arrangement further compromised by an underutilized extra bathroom. We started by removing the bathroom and opening up the wall between the dining and kitchen areas to create an experience of unimpeded flow and spaciousness. Adding a center island provided multiple worksurfaces for children and adults while also contributing to the sense of generosity of the space.
