The client was looking to modernize a dated kitchen to allow for simultaneous work by several cooks. We removed a demising wall between the kitchen and dining areas, and designed a central island with a trapezoidal countertop which provides a generous work surface as well as contributes to a sense of dynamic open space. Highlights of the project include a custom wall tile design to celebrate the family ancestry. Custom-made maple wood cabinetry allowed for full customization of the work and storage areas. Pendant light fixtures between the kitchen and the raised sitting area create a visual boundary without impeding the connection.
